Dinosaur Footprint Hunting

Dinosaur footprints are usually hunted for in areas where the geological layers of sedimentary rock are not impossible to access. These areas include the coast line, quarry pits, arroyos in the desert, river banks and cliffs. Tracks are usually found in greatest detail where the rock is not soft and doesn’t disintegrate over time. Interestingly enough, tracks are usually found far away from bones. The ideal conditions for the preservation of dinosaur footprints are quite different from those ideal for dinosaur fossils.

Since dinosaur bones and tracks are usually located far apart, the ease of identifying the dinosaur that made the footprint becomes hindered. One element that could help track hunters identify the dinosaurs that made the tracks is a computer system with good data for matching the bones with the footprints.
