Fossil Teeth Localities

Fossil teeth are found in many localities. One of the most well-known places to find fossil teeth from the Miocene is Calvert County in Maryland. Here it is possible to find fossil teeth from extinct sharks related to Tiger Sharks, Hammer-head Sharks, Sand Sharks, Magalodon Sharks and the Requiem Shark. Many fossils are often found on privately owned land by geologists. Fossil teeth can also be found here on public beaches like the Chesapeake Bay beach in Calvert County. At this location, sharks teeth and dental plates from rays are commonly found.
