Petrified Wood Localities

One of the best places to find petrified wood is the Petrified Forest National Monument in Argentina. The Argentine Patagonia has petrified trees much larger than those found in the United States. Another petrified wood forest is located on the island of Lesbos in Greece. This is one of the larger petrified wood forests and is also a National Monument. The most famous petrified wood locality in the United States is the Petrified Forest National Park in Arizona. Other petrified wood forests can be found in Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming, near Vantage Bridge in Washington, near Cairo in Egypt and near Calistoga in California.
